MMA Training for Kids | MMA Workout for Kids

Here is a quick video of my 9 and 7 year old at jiu jitsu the other night. MMA training for kids is a great way for them to workout, become confident and have a lot of fun.

MMA Training | Cauliflower Ear of the Week: Jeremy Horn

This week's "Cauliflower Ear of the Week" goes to MMA legend, and one of my favorite fighters of all time, Jeremy Horn. His ears have become banged up and war-torn as he became the most experienced MMA fighter in history. With well over 130 professional fights all over the world with the biggest organizations and fighting the biggest names in the sport he’s had only 19 losses!

Jeremy is the only person in the world to have a submission victory over Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell, when he choked him unconscious at UFC 19 with an arm triangle choke. He would fight Chuck again at UFC 54, which was the fight that made me fall in love with sport. Although he lost the rematch, Jeremy pressed the action the entire fight and almost broke the will of the greatest light heavyweight of all time.

Not only is he a legendary fighter, he is a legendary coach. He has been a teacher and mentor to some of the biggest names in MMA : Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, Tim Sylvia, Spencer Fischer, Robbie Lawler, Joe Riggs, and Joe Dorksen, among others. His most recent protégé, DaMarques Johnson, is on the rise in the UFC as a top welterweight prospect.

I’m fortunate enough to live in the same area as Horn and once asked him about his gnarled ears. Never one to feed anyone a line of B.S. he told me that loved them but "they make me feel like I have rocks taped to my head when I sleep."

So for his legendary status as a fighter and coach, Jeremy Horn’s ears are this week’s "Cauliflower Ears of the Week."

Lately I have been taking a couple of Samoan high school football players with me to my MMA training class. They are blessed with big, strong, athletic bodies and it's been fun rolling with them. For now I get the best of them, but as soon as they learn how to use their strength with some technique I am in trouble.

In this video I am rolling with Michael who is 6'1", 240 lbs and only 15 YEARS OLD! College recruiters are already lining up for Mike and his older brother who both start for the Hunter High School football team in West Valley City, UT.

Know Pain, Know Gain | MMA Workouts | MMA Training for Beginners

Welcome to Fat Boy Fight Night! If you are like me (and my guess is that most of you are) you are a wuss. But it isn't necessarily your fault: it's your jobs, your families, your TV's, and it's the peer pressure of American culture tricking us into believing that our lives should be filled with comfort and ease.

"Know pain, know gain." I know that's a cheesy line if you are a guy, but if you have an expired Man Card, I want to show you how you can get it back. I am on a journey to lose weight and get in great shape through MMA Workouts and MMA Training for Beginners. I do this by going to Absolute MMA three or four times a week to train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, boxing and ol' fashioned wrestling.

My goal is to not become a pro fighter by any stretch of the imagination but to be fit and confidant so that I can take on life’s daily battles with confidence and a clear mind.

I know, I know, the first rule of fight club is not to talk about fight club, but I am not fighting in the basement of some dingy bar, unsupervised and without regard to safety and reason. So here is it. Welcome to my journey.
